Hello hello hello, here I am back at it again with my monthly wrap up! July was a really good reading month for me. For the most part I really enjoyed every book I read, so #success! I was really into audiobooks though for some reason this month, so a lot of the books I read I actually listened to. Yay for that! Also this month I decided to write a little something about each book I’ve read, so please let me know if you like this way better, or how I normally do it.
Becoming Rain by K. A. Tucker - 4.75/5
I absolutely loved this book! I picked it up right after I finished Burying Water and I was so impressed! It’s suspenseful, the romance is great and the plot is so interesting! It was about Rain, who is an undercover FBI agent and she has to keep track of Luke, who has been caught up in some illegal family business. My description really doesn’t do it justice, go check it out if you like New Adult books! Read my review here.
One Tiny Lie by K. A. Tucker - 3/5
So seeing as I was loving K. A. Tucker’s books, I decided to pick up this one that I had started months ago but never finished. This is a companion novel to Ten Tiny Breaths and is about Livie. Livie is moving away to college and needs to learnt to let go and have the proper college experience. So that’s exactly what she does. She meets some guys along the way and figures some life stuff out. I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. The story was fine and it was written well, but the characters and their choices (especially their romantic choices) didn’t sit well with me at all. Read my review here.
Unbreak my Heart by Nicole Jacquelyn - 4.5/5
I loved this book! I was really looking forward to this book after seeing some amazing reviews for it, and so I had pretty high expectations! I have tried writing what this story is about for like 5 minutes now and I just cannot do it justice. Just know that it is intense and it will seriously mess with your emotions!! My review will be up in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned for that :)
One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid - 3.5/5
This was another highly anticipated read for me, but unfortuntley it fell flat. I don’t know what it is but I find TJR’s writing to be too basic. That’s fine for some people, but for me it just makes it a little boring. The story itself was really good. I found it to be so unique but at some points, very unrealistic. There were some questionable character choices, but in the end I was happy with how everything turned out. Basically, this story is about a woman whose husband died on their first year anniversary. Her life falls apart and she moves back home. Months later she runs in to her high school sweetheart… WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG???? My review will be coming in the next couple of weeks :)
Bad Romeo by Leisa Rayven - 5/5
Wow this book was so much better than anything I could have imagined!! Think “After” by Anna Todd, minus the abuse, plus some acting, second chance love and amazing characters. I just loved it so much. It was absolutely hilarious at times and it was told in the present and 6 years earlier so you get to see how certain events play out. Read this if you like New Adult!! My review for this went up the other day so you can check that out here.
Broken Juliet by Leisa Rayven - 4.5/5
This is the sequel to bad Romeo and while it wasn’t quite as good as the first one, it was still amazing. Again, the characters were fantastic, the story was intruging and it was simply hilarious. However, my issue with this is that I felt like it was dragged out too much. I still loved it but I was expecting certain ends to be tied way earlier than when they did. Does that even make sense? Anyway, my review should be going up in a couple of days so keep an eye out!
A Very Bad Romeo Christmas - 4.5/5
Ok so this isn’t a while book it’s more of a novella, but I read it (free on Wattpad) and it was so good! I loved visiting the characters again and seeing where they are at now. Happy tears all round for this one! I won’t be writing a review for this because it was just so short. If you liked Bad Romeo and Broken Juliet, read this.
To Love Jason Thorn by Ella Maise - 4/5
This was a book I had never heard of, but I just liked the look of the cover and the title so I decided to listen to it on Audible! I really liked this story though! It’s a cute New Adult romance that was very well written. A little cliché and predictable at times, but overall a good story and I would definitely recommend it to fans of New Adult. One thing I will mention is to not listen to this on Audiobook!!! The guys voice was so monotone it was actually ridiculous. 10/10 would not recommend Sebastian York audiobooks.
Chasing Spring by R. S. Grey - 3.75/5
This was a book that I had been wanting to read for a while, but I knew absolutely nothing about it. I picked it up on audible (wouldn’t recommend this Audiobook either tbh), and I flew through it. I found it to be very very similar to Twilight at the start (I think the author thought so too since there was an actual reference to Twilight in the book).Other than that, it was pretty good. I liked the romance and the build-up of information given. I do think it could have been longer because a lot of information seemed to be left out. Review to come soon!
Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta - 3.75/5
I have heard SO many good things about Melina Marchetta lately so I decided to check one of her books out. I had seen Looking for Alibrandi the movie and didn’t really want to read about that, so decided to go with this one. For the most part, I did enjoy this (more-so towards the end). This is a young adult book and I found myself wishing it was told from the perspective of the Dad rather than Francesca, so I think that means I am growing out of YA. I’ll try and write a review for this if I have time, but I might not get around to it.
Only for Him by Cristin Harber & Only for Her by Cristin Harber - 4.5/5 & 3/5
This is hard to explain but basically these are 2 novellas out of a set of 4 novellas. I won’t be continuing with the last two books. 1. Because although I really enjoyed the first installment, the second one had a lot of cliché things happen and I just didn’t like where it was going. 2 there is no bloody way I am going to pay $8 to read the next 160 pages. No way. I’m still pissed about this, but that’s for another blog post.
