In similar fashion of my Top Ten Books of 2015, I thought I would make a post of the most disappointing books I have read in 2015. I just want to make a disclaimer that these books weren't all terrible, they just weren't for me. Sorry if some of these are your favourite books, it's nothing against you, I just didn't like them. These will be in order from least to most disappointed. Click the images for my reviews.
Confess by Colleen Hoover
This was not a bad book by any means. But, it is a Colleen Hoover book, and I love Colleen Hoover's books...usually. I don't know, I had just read November 9 and so I decided to read this because this was nearly everyone's favourite CoHO, and I just wasn't as "wow'd" as I normally am with her books. I still enjoyed it though because her writing is amazing, but it's just not my favourite.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Oh my bloody God! I swear everyone and their dog loves this book. Rarely have I ever seen anyone say a bad thing about it and to be honest, it's sort of the same as with Confess. It was a decent book, but by no means did I think it was fantastic. I really hated Cath, and to me characters can make or break a book, and Cath definitely broke the book for me. Apart from that, I thought a few things were a little over the extreme and I just didn't relate to it the same way it seemed every single other person who read it, did. So yes, disappointed with this one. Landline is still my favourite Rainbow Rowell book!
Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I'll get straight to the point. I hated Lola. I absolutely could not stand her. I didn't thinks she was quirky at all, I thought she was immature and I thought that she was just plain ridiculous. I didn't see all the fuss about Cricket either to be honest and the only reason I continued reading it was because I liked the writing and I loved seeing Anna and Etienne again. Really, Lola just made no sense. It should have been Meredith and the boy next door!
Your Voice is all I Hear by Leah Sceieir
This wasn't a book that was hyped up, and it wasn't one I had been waiting to read for ages. I was just expecting way too much out of it apparently and it just didn't live up to my expectations. I felt like the way this girl dealt with everything was idiotic and I didn't like her at all. The main thing that annoyed me about this book was the fact that they were 15 years old, and it was so unrealistic to me.
I basically read this for the cover, because I really liked it. I also thought it would be a really cute romance story but from what I remember (which isn't much) I thought it was boring, the romance was unrealistic and the characters were stupid. A definite disappointment.
Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen
I really like Sarah Dessen, she always has cute contemporary books with really sweet romances. Which is why I was so thoroughly disappointed with this book. I felt like this book had zero romance, probably considering the main character in it was 14 and so damn annoying. I think I would have liked this better if I had of known it was more a book about self discovery/friendship than her typical contemporary books. Also I just could not relate to the main character.
Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino
I swear I read this in 2014, but I don't care I'm keeping it in here because this book was so... pointless. I did not like the romance at all, I thought the characters were awkward and it just wasn't a fun read for me. After hearing a lot of people rave about how cute the romance was I was expecting so much more but I just didn't like it. I did read one of Renee Carlino's other books this year, and it turned out to be an all time favourite so I'm hoping I'll like her other books!
The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
Finally my most disappointing book ever (so far anyway). Seriously, I was expecting so so so much from this book. It was everyone's favourite book back when I started Book Blogging and I just had to read it. It obviously was not my cup of tea. I thought the plot line was ridiculous, unrealistic and just wrong. I didn't like the main character, or the romance in the story. I did enjoy the poems and the pictures, that I can relate to. But everything else? It just didn't do it for me I'm afraid.
And there you have it, my most disappointing books of 2015! Let me know what books disappointed you in 2015!
