Life can change in a split second.
Addie hardly recognizes her life since her parents divorced. Her boyfriend used her. Her best friend betrayed her. She can’t believe this is the future she chose. On top of that, her ability is acting up. She’s always been able to Search the future when presented with a choice. Now she can manipulate and slow down time, too... but not without a price.
As Addie and Laila frantically attempt to retrieve the lost memories, Addie must piece together a world she thought she knew before she loses the love she nearly forgot... and a future that could change everything.
My God this book was nearly as amazing as the first one! Kasie West is such a fantastic writer I cannot praise her enough! There were a couple of things in this book that I wish were different, but for the most part I bloody loved it!
First of all, I wasn’t expecting to get Laila's point of view. At first I was a little disappointed about this but as I read the story she grew on me and I ended up loving reading Laila's chapters! The way the story unfolded and all the little twists was fantastic, it was a little predictable at times but the way it all panned out was so suspenseful.
With the romance aspect of the story, for the most part I enjoyed it. I think Laila and Conner were very “insta-lovey” and I didn’t like how quick that happened as it didn’t seem very realistic to me. Having said that, I loved those two together. It wasn’t like they were in love as soon as they met, and if the book spanned over several months instead of days it wouldn’t have been so unrealistic. With Addie and Trevor their relationship literally took a step back, but in saying that it made complete sense for the story and I loved how it all panned out.
In the first book I could completely agree with all of Addie’s decisions, however in Split Second I don’t think I could say the same. But again, once everything unraveled it all made sense as to why so I’m just confused with myself. Don’t get me wrong, I really really loved this book. Even when I didn’t 100% agree with the character choices, because it was just so addicting.
Overall everything about this book was phenomenal and I am extremely happy with how everything was wrapped up. I cannot recommend this series enough, if you’re a fan of dystopian novels about corrupt societies and parallel universes and special abilities, then this book is or you. Even if you don’t think you like those things and you are just a fan of a good romance, this book is for you. 10/10 would recommend!
