I really hate over hyped books. Anybody? No? Dust. (name that reference!)
There's no way to avoid it. There's so many different ways for book lovers to express their thoughts now (Goodreads, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter etc.) and there always seems to be that one book that everyone is talking about (more like raving about). I remember when I first started Instagram Jandy Nelson was the big thing, so of course I had to get her book because it was going to be absolutely fantastic right? Wrong. I read The Sky is Everywhere and I just wanted to throw it out the window. I really couldn’t understand (I still don’t understand) why everyone was raving about it so much.
This happens to me way too much. There are so many books that I have bought because of the hype, and I just don’t enjoy them. I never know if the book is actually crap and everyone else is just delusional, or if it was actually really good but my expectations were way too high. Either way, I can't stand it. Now I am so wary about reading anything anyone recommends to me, which is absolutely insane!
Here are some of the books that I feel were way too over hyped. (I'll make sure to link my reviews of these too).
There are honestly so many more I could name, but I didn’t want this post to be really long. Basically, I’m just sick of all the hype surrounding books. But then again, when I really love a book I just want everyone to read it so that I can just talk about how fantastic it is with someone, so I understand why people do it. What are some of your over-hyped books?
