I was going to try and write a review for this book, but I feel like anything I write would not give this book the recognition it deserves. So I won’t be writing a review as such, I don’t even know what this is to be honest. There is so much I want to say but I just can’t. For one, spoilers. And two, it almost seems disrespectful. I know that when this book first came out, it was literally all anyone was talking about. I thought it was over-hyped so I kept putting it off. I’ve seen a few people on BookTube saying they absolutely hated the book, and so I wanted to find out for myself.
Now, I’m not going to harp on about how amazing the book was, but I will say that it is such a special book. From the first page to the very last, I felt, actually I don’t even know what I felt. I cannot even think of any words that can properly express how I feel about this book. I just can’t.
This is definitely a book I know I will think about for a very long time. Half an hour after I’ve finished reading it and I still tear up whenever I look at it. I highly recommend that you read it if you haven’t already. You might hate it, you might love it. But I think either way, it should be read.
I should probably have mentioned what I liked and didn't like about this book. And I'm not going to lie, this book definitely had faults. But I think the overall message and feeling this book gave me is so much more important. So I will just leave you with this quote. Out of context, it probably won’t mean much, but for those who’ve read it. You know. “You are all the colours in one, at full brightness” – Theodore Finch
Format Paperback, 342 pages
Acquired From: Vinnies (for 50c, Bargain Hunter Terri that’s what they call me, among other things)
(Please keep in mind, I literally finished this book not even an hour ago, so my emotions are all over the place right now.)
