This is a book that I received from Simon and Schuster a while ago, but I have so many books I have to read, I just couldn’t see myself getting to this anytime soon. So, since my sister is a fan of these types of books, I figured I would give it to her, and she really really enjoyed it. So today, this blog post is brought to you by my sister Crystal.

After reading the blurb on the back I had a feeling that I had read a similar storyline elsewhere, (like After by Anna Todd) however after reading the prologue, it became insanely clear that this was completely different.
The story is based around Amber Moretti, a rather attractive woman with a secretive background, who has just started her freshman year at university. This whole book is basically a massive love triangle with a heap of drama mixed in. Amber is torn between two similar men who are actually best friends. When she actually picks one of them, her relationship is very different to what would be considered “normal” however fits well with the characters and their backgrounds. Although I do have to say, I was not happy with who she got with, team Ryder all the way! I am trying really hard not to give any spoilers away because my sister says that’s a real big no-no, but it is actually quite hard as there are certain characteristics that Amber’s boyfriend has that make it evident that he is not the right man for her.
All characters have very interesting backgrounds, with their own different secrets that give you a lot of insight to their personalities. I found that all of the characters were a little bit annoying, in the way of how intense they all were (I still love Ryder though). It just kind of made it a bit unrealistic with how they all acted from the moment they first met, very “insta-lovey”. However, once you get past all of that, you are left with an amazing story.
One of the things that makes this love triangle type storyline stand out from others though, is the way the author has captured the innocence yet maturity of the characters. Think Twilight’s love triangle crossed with 50 Shades of Grey’s intimacy and erotica. Yes that’s right people. I know!
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Although after the amazing prologue which hooked me straight away, I was a little disappointed and thought it was going a bit slow, however when it heated up, it really heated up and once I finished the last chapter and realised it was only book 1, my heart skipped a beat. I seriously cannot wait for the second book. In the meantime, I will definitely be checking out McHugh’s other books.
