This isn’t normally the sort of book I would read, if I saw this on the shelf in a bookshop I wouldn’t even give it a second glance. Bikers? Yeah, not my thing. But Simon and Schuster sent this book to me for review so I thought, why not? And holy moly I am so glad I decided to give this book a chance. I loved it! The writing wasn’t fantastic, and it definitely wasn’t my favourite book but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend!
So this is the second book in the Wind Dragons MC Series, and I haven’t read the first because 1. I don’t own it and 2. I’m a rebel like that. I feel like the Wild Dragons would be proud of my rebellion. Anyway, this book is about 25 year old Anna whose brother Adam or “Rake” (stupid name I know), is part of a bikie group. Adam is extremely protective of Anna (this is mentioned several times), and even goes as far as to have one of the bikies to escort her wherever she goes. Arrow is one of those escorts, and without spoiling it, things happen, people fall in love, more things happen, and a great story is born.
This is definitely not a realistic story (in my opinion), and Arrow is definitely not one I’d pine over, because really, he is such an arse hole; but this was such a good book to just dive in and forget about everything.
Another thing that really bothered me was how repetitive it was. I’m pretty sure it was mentioned that Adam was extremely protective of Anna, at least 5 times within the first few chapters. Also it seemed to contradict itself. One chapter it would say one thing, and the next it would be completely different. Also the insta love! It really bothered me how quickly they got together. It wasn’t necessarily quick but it didn’t feel like they developed much as a couple before Anna was in love with him.
All of that aside, I really did love this book. I would definitely recommend this, especially to fans of New Adult. I will warn you though, there is a lot of swearing and quite a few “mature scenes” if you catch my drift… So if that’s not your thing? Then this book is not for you
*I personally don’t think you need to read the first one to read this (I didn’t). I think there would be spoilers for a Faye and Sin, and you might have more of an idea of who Arrow is and why, but I didn’t find myself confused or feeling like I was missing out on important info so it’s definitely not essential. Although I will definitely be reading the first one now! And there’s going to be a story about Tracker? I’m going to need that ASAP!!
