Beautiful Secret is the fourth instalment of the Beautiful series and it definitely did not disappoint. This story follows Ruby and Niall who live in London working in some fancy pants company thing? Then they end up having to go on a month long business trip to New York together (shocker) and stuff happens and it’s really good, just take my word for it. Get it? My word? Because I am writing this, in words… I am really tired.
From the very first page I was hooked. The writing flowed amazingly well, unlike this review, and I didn't want to put it down. It's one of those books where you want to keep reading but you don't because you know if you do the book will end and then it will just be sad times. There also weren't any boring parts that I felt the need to skip over. I read every single word of this book and loved it.
I really liked how it kind of joined up with the other books and you get to see a little bit of what’s happening with Bennet, Will and Max and their partners...it was just beautiful (get it?). One thing I love about Christina Lauren’s 'Beautiful series' is that you get really invested in these characters, and the certain couples, and you can’t imagine reading about any other couple, but then you read another book by them and you love them just as much, if not more than the other couples. That made no sense but whatever, I just really liked the book ok?
The characters were really likeable as well. I liked that Ruby was still shy but at the same time she didn’t hold things back and she was very open. I thought it was also really nice that Niall was awkward and not very experienced in ‘ze hanky panky’ which was a nice change as it is usually the other way around.
There’s probably more I could rave about but I won’t because I’m not really making sense. The only thing that I had a problem with was the ending. It has the same set out as the majority of other NA books, or just romance books in general. That being, girl meets boy, girl and boy get together, some sort of disaster happens and girl and boy split up, girl and boy get back together, THE END. I really dislike that. Like you spend the whole book with them and then BOOM it’s over, no more, hasta la vista. But in saying that, I would still recommend this book to anyone who likes NA. I’m not sure if it’s NA or Adult because Niall is like 30? So is that classified as Adult? I don’t know but either way it’s fantastic and you should read it.
Book: 9.5/10 (WOAH see my rating scale)
Favourite Quote: I couldn’t choose so I have two, they both made me LOL.
“[Niall] How do you know that when I bought these I wasn’t wearing a wedding ring?...[Ruby] You’re suggesting my sleuth skills are subpar. That I don’t know your timeline? I thought we established early on that my creeper dial goes up to eleven.”
“[Niall] would you care to come down for a bite to eat?” She hesitated on the other end for what felt like an eternity. “Unless you have a…” I paused, fumbling for words “That is to say, an agent… of… pleasure in your room’”
