This is going to be a very short review since it was a very short book, but overall I really enjoyed this book. It’s a kid’s book so it was an extremely quick read. I really liked how it simplified the information in a way that kids would understand. I also think that it would provide a lot of opportunities in the classroom in the way of what the focus would be on.
I know that stage 3 (year 5 and 6) study Sidney Nolan’s paintings and so I thought it would be a good book to use for that topic, but I think the writing is a bit simplistic for them. The illustrations were very well done. It was so modern and colourful and described the story perfectly.
The timeline at the end was the best part, education wise that is. It went into a lot more detail into Sidney Nolan’s life and you find out some interesting facts, like how the Queen bought one of his paintings and he was knighted in 1981.
I think if there was more in depth information it would be very beneficial to use in the school. But either way, I would definitely use it in the classroom one way or another, just as an overview book I think this does the job and is definitely worth the price in my opinion.
