This was probably my most anticipated book of this year (so far). I read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before about a month ago, and absolutely loved it! I liked the sequel, but I feel like it was very rushed, and very much a filler book.
Don’t get me wrong, I really liked this book. I love Lara Jean I feel like she is so relatable and I can see so much of myself in her it’s not even funny. Kitty is just hilarious but she seems so much older than 10. Peter, is just… I’m not really sure how I feel about Peter. I like him but at times he can be very oblivious and kind of ignorant when it comes to Lara Jean. I’m really glad Margot wasn’t really in this one because I didn’t really like her all that much. I’m just going to say it right now, I predict Jenny Han will write a companion book all about Margot and Josh. Anyone else get that vibe?
The writing was amazing, as Jenny Han’s writing always is, but I feel like a lot of the story was pointless. I didn’t like the whole Stormy thing with the nursing home, I found that to be very boring and it didn’t really add anything to the story. I just honestly don’t think there should have been a sequel. I mean, given the ending of To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before, yes there needed to be something extra, but this didn’t really live up to my expectations and that really annoys me.
I’m not really sure how to rate this. I liked the book, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. When I first started reading the book I thought it was going to be a 9 for sure, then after certain things payed out that dropped down to 8.5, but now I’m just not sure. When I started writing this review I was calm, but now thinking about how unnecessary the book was, I’m not really sure. I guess you’ll have to read on to find out my final decision :P
I will just add, that I would definitely recommend reading this. Even though I wasn’t very impressed, I think it was still a very good book and I definitely don’t regret reading it.
Now I’m thinking I might read Fangirl…
