Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.
Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

Ok, so I’m not really sure how to explain my thoughts of this one. I really liked the book. I liked the story and I liked the writing. K. A. Tucker has a way with her writing that is just so addicting. But the romance in it irritated me at times.
I loved the characters, the main ones at least. I would have liked to know more about some of the side characters though. I feel like they were just there and they didn’t have any personality or back story with them.
I didn’t like how the book dealt with the recovery process that Kacey was going through. It just annoyed me that she had all these problems, and then as soon as the guy comes into the picture, they disappear and she’s happier than ever etc. Throughout the whole book, Kacey can’t handle anyone touching her hands except for her sister… and Trent. #soulmates4eva #totesdidn’tseethatcoming
The romance felt very similar to Twilight minus the vampires and add some more raunchiness. I liked it at first so it didn’t bother me, but it was just all too much too soon. I felt like it gave off the wrong message for the book and it was just very unrealistic. Then the whole "twist" at the end was just ridiculous! (SPOILERS!!!) Like it was one thing to find out that the guy was involved in the accident to start with, but then to find out that he had been STALKING her for 2 years before they met AND that he admitted that if he thought he could make her fall in love with him then it would make everything better…just no. It’s like, you go through the whole book rooting for these two characters, only to find out he was extremely creepy BUT THEN they get back together in the end as if nothing happened. In some ways some of their actions are excused because of everything that happened, but I still think it was very creepy. (END SPOILERS)
That’s all I really have to say about that. Even though this whole review was pretty much just me bitching about the romance in the book, I did really enjoy it. I felt like it told a really important message and apart from the whole romance thing, the plot was great. I’ve already started reading One Tiny Lie which is Livies story and I am already enjoying it.
