Where do I start? I'm really sad that I didn't like this book as much as the other one. I had high hopes but it just didn't meet my expectations. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the story and read it within a day, but I had a few issues with this story that I just couldn't over look.
Firstly, the insta love was real in this book. And I hated it. I could handle the insta love in the last book because I loved the characters a lot and I wanted them together. Also I think they were together longer than a week. In Sweet Obsession, I think it was 5 days in where the main characters friends are saying shit like "can't you tell he/she loves you" or "you've changed, you must love him" and it just pissed me off. I'm sorry but it did. Nothing about their relationship was realistic to me.
I did however, like that they spent more time getting to know each other rather than just jumping into a purely physical relationsip. But this, then leads me on to the second thing that I had an issue with. Brooke. Not necessarily the character, but the way she treated men was just disgusting. And some people couldn't give a crap about that, but she was the female version of a man whore. Not just because she sleeps around with a lot of men. But she got into a "relationship" with this guy LITERALLY so she could have sex with him as he wanted to get to know her first. I know you often read about the guy trying to get into the girls pants, but if you read a story where the guy was doing what Brooke was doing in this book there would be a uproar. I don't like to get into this sort of stuff normally, especially on the internet but I feel like there are definitely double standards for women. Feminism these days isn't about equality, it's about women always being right. And it pisses me off. If a man did what Brooke did in this book, he would be called a rapist. I read so many reviews to see if anyone else thought the same as me, and it looks like i'm the only one. So many people saying how they loved Brooke and how she was such a "strong independent woman who knows what she wants". but i'd rather be known as an ignorant arsehole than a feminist if that's what it means now.
But enough about that rant. Apart from these two issues, I did enjoy the story a lot.I know it may not seem like it, but apparently I had a bigger issue with that as I originally thought. I did like the characters and their relationship. Would have been more believable had it been spread over a month or so though. Not much plot wise because the whole story was basically focused around Brooke trying to get laid...
I loved seeing the other characters back again, particularly Reese and the girl (I legit forget all the main female characters names I swear to God). I loved seeing how their relationship evolved and I loved seeing their kids (so cute).
