Merry Christmas!! It is Christmas Day today (at least it will be when this gets posted) and I found " The Joy of Christmas" booktag while I was watching some YouTube videos and I decided to do it. This tag was created by Novels and Nonsense and you can watch the original tag video here.
The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?
There's quite a few books I'm excited for in 2016, and I am going to be doing a whole post on those. But I absolutely love Kiera Cass's writing and I cannot wait for the conclusion to The Heir and her new book The Siren. Which to be honest, I don't really have any idea what it's about apart from what I can gather from the title. But I'm sure I'm going to love it!
Christmas Songs & Carols:
What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?
I think that's going to be Colleen Hoover. I don't think she could possibly disappoint me (except with Confess and This Girl because I didn't like those), but every other book I have read, I've given 4+ stars for. She is just such an amazing author who can somehow rip your heart out and put it back together with pretty much every book she writes. Her characters always end up favourites of mine and I cannot recommend her books enough for anyone who likes romance. Seriously though, if you like romance and you haven't read her books then you cray.
What book or series has wonderful world building?
I don't read anything other than contemporary usually but hands down, The Selection series has the best world building of all the fantasy/dystopian books I have read. I loved that it felt like I was still reading a contemporary novel even though I wasn't. I also loved how romance driven the series was. I think my main issue with some fantasy is that I never like the romance. Having said that, I loved everything about The Selection, the world building, the characters, the plot, the politics. Just everything. I know there's a lot of people who would disagree, but I don't care. Preachin it!
A Christmas Carol:
Favourite classic or one that you want to read
I don't really read classics, mainly because I just cannot get into the writing style. But, I not long ago listened to Anne of Green Gables, and I really enjoyed it. I did like Anne of Avonlea better just because it was different to the movies, but Anne is such a likeable character. I really need to continue this series, that's my 2016 goal!
I would also like to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I don't know how I'll go with it, but I have the book and it's pretty, and it seems to be the most popular classic romance ever so Imma give it a go. Maybe in 2016, maybe not. Who knows.
What book would you love to receive for Christmas
I never ask for books for Christmas because then I have to tell the people what book I want and then it's not a surprise. And I like surprises. But having said that, I really want to read We Should Hang Out Sometime by John Sundquist, but it's only available in Hardback and it's really expensive (for me), so I haven't bought it. It's not even available in eBook format, so I've been waiting a really long time for that but it comes out in paperback version in January! Yay for that.
Candles in the Window:
What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling
Definitely Landline by Rainbow Rowell. I say definitely but truth is it took me like 10 minutes to decide. This book is set in Christmas, it has magical elements, there's some really sweet characters and it's written by Rainbow Rowell Need I say more? It's just a very nice, feel good sort of book and I had a really good experience reading it. I really want to read it again too but I never re-read books so it never happens. Maybe if I had a copy I would read it again. Better add it to my wishlist!
