So I was watching some BookTube videos and I came across a Tom Hanks Book Tag?!?!?! For those of you who know me, know that I absolutely LOVE Tom Hanks. Or maybe you didn't know that, but now you do, so there. I’m not obsessed but I do really love his movies. SO anyway, I know this is a BookTube tag but that's not going to hold me back!! So here I am, without further ado here is ze Tom Hanks Book Tag (omg).
1. Big: A book you read when you were young that was intended for a more mature audience?
I didn’t really read much when I was younger, and if I did I think they were pretty suited to my age. The only one I can think of is the True Blood books? I think I was about 16 at the time and the TV series had just come out and of course, I wasn’t allowed to watch it. So me being the rebel that I am, I stole my mum’s books and read (well attempted to read) the first one. I don’t think I actually read the whole thing but yeah, that.
2. Forrest Gump: Books are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get. What book did you pick up not knowing anything about?
There were a few I could choose from but I decided to go with one that I actually liked. It was Me Before You by Jo Jo Moyes. I thought it was a contemporary romance but nah. I really knew nothing about this book and I can’t even remember why I decided to read it in the first place but I am so glad I did!
3. Sleepless in Seattle: Last book to keep you up late (sleeeeepless) reading?
I think it was Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren. I think I stayed up until 3 am, which isn’t very unusual for me to be honest.
4. Toy Story: A timeless book you plan to share with any offspring you create?
If I had read Harry Potter I would probably say that but I haven’t so I won’t. If I have a girl then probably the Sweet Valley High series, I loved that when I was about 13/14. If I have a boy though? They’re screwed because I have no idea!
5. You've Got Mail: A book you heard about on the internet and where you heard about it from?
This is my favourite Tom Hanks movie btw!! A lot of books I’ve read lately are because I’ve seen them around on either BookTube or Instagram. I heard about the After series by Anna Todd through Instagram and am currently reading that now, which is INSANE by the way!! Bloody Hardin.
6. Castaway: If you can only bring one book to a deserted island...what would it be?
Um no? I really have no idea. I don’t re-read books but then I wouldn’t know what book to take in case I took a really crap book. So maybe I would take some sort of cartography book or maybe a book that teaches you to make boats out of tree limbs because then I might be able to leave.
7. Cloud Atlas: What book did you have high expectations for you that didn't quite meet them?
Red Queen. That book was so damn hyped up that I just didn’t enjoy it. I probably would have liked it if it wasn’t hyped but yeah, just no.
8. Saving Private Ryan: Favourite ensemble cast
I am assuming this means a book where you liked all of the characters? I have no idea but I can’t think of one. Sorry.
9. The Green Mile: Most hated villain
I don’t read many books where there is an actual villain so this doesn’t really work for me I don’t think. Yeah no, nothing.
10. Turner and Hooch: Animal character that stole the show
I seriously don’t know any animal characters. LOL Jacob from Twilight. Cause he’s a wolf… But really, no idea.
11. A League of their Own: Favourite female friendship
I really liked Anna and Merediths (not sure if that is actually her name) friendship in Anna and the French Kiss, I think… it’s been a while. But I did like Meredith. I also can’t think of any other female friendships in books.
I’m going to add my own questions because you cannot just stop at 11!
12. Philadelphia: Book that covers a serious topic
*POSSIBLY A SPOILER*I think the After series covers a really important topic that I don’t really think is covered in many NA books. That being abusive relationships. Seriously Tessa and Hardin’s relationship is just one big train wreck, and I think it’s important that people understand that, that isn’t what a relationship is, or should be. It also puts you in the mindset of the person that always goes back, you keep feeling sorry for Hardin and you know that Tessa should leave but then when she stays with him you start to understand why and it really messes with your head!
13. Catch Me If You Can: Book that you’ve wanted for a long time
I really really want Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson, OR the next book in the Crossfire series because damn, I need to know what happens like yesterday.
14. Apollo 13: A book that was out of this world.
Haha, get it? Because the movie is about going to space… I really really enjoyed The Catastrophic History of You and Me by Jess Rothenberg. I don’t know if I loved it so much because I was sleep deprived, but when I read it, I was blown away.
15. Saving Mr. Banks: Favourite movie adaptation
I think the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas was a really good movie adaptation. I actually prefer the movie to the book.
