It's quite ironic that I'm writing a post about summer reads while I'm sitting here wrapped in a blanket and my hands as cold as ice! But I'm not complaining because I definitely do not miss summer! Is it even summer in the northern hemisphere yet? It's Autumn here so I thought it was only Spring everywhere else? I don't know! Anyway as my go-to genre to read is contemporary, I have quite a few summery type reads to share with you guys, and hopefully you'll find some to add to your TBR :) Also let's pretend that I got this post up on time and it's actually Wednesday when you're reading this :P If you click on the covers it will take you to the Goodreads page of that book so you can get allllllll of the deets :)
Breathe Annie Breathe by Miranda Kenneally
I loved this book! And I love this cover! To me it screams summer. Kind of. In this book the main character decides to run a marathon in memory of her boyfriend, however she needs to train to do so. In comes her trainer's brother Jeremiah (who is not a bull frog by the way) and.... stuff happens. If you're looking for a really cute read that is funny but can also be serious at times, this is for you! I loved the romance in it and the whole book was just written really well. My full review can be found here.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares
This book screams summer to me! It takes place in the summer and it just has a real summery vibe. Again, ironically I read this in the middle of Winter, but it was still a really good read. I'm not going to explain what it's about because I feel like most people know already. I had seen the movie before reading the book, and I do think I prefer the book better, although there are several differences between the two that are good in their own ways. But, if you did like the movie and you haven't read this book, I recommend giving it a go :)
First Love by James Patterson
I've mentioned this book a few times on my blog before but I really think this is an underrated book and more people should read it! Basically if The Fault in Our Stars and Amy and Roger's Epic Detour had a baby, this would be it. Books about road trips are hit and miss with me, and this was definitely a hit! Also it takes place in the summer so it's a perfect summer read :) And I actually did read this one in the Summer surprisingly ;)
After Math by Denise Grover Swank
I read this quite a while ago but it was a really good book in my opinion. It is New Adult so a bit raunchier than the others but still great for summer. It is basically one of those "girl-tutors-guy-who-is-nothing-like-her-and-they-end-up-falling-for-each-other" type of book, and while it is cheesy and cliche, it's great if you want a quick, cute contemporary.
One of the Guys by Lisa Aldin
Fun fact! This was my first ever review book (online that is). I reviewed this before I even had this blog so I'm pretty sure you won't find it on here. But nevertheless this book was great. I know I've said that about all of them, but it's all true! This book follows the main character who is a tomboy and only has guy friends, when she gets sent to an all girls school. She becomes known at the school for knowing hot guys and ends up running a business for getting girls dates... for money. It sounds pretty bad now that I've written it out, but it was a really decent book, trust me ;P
That's all folks! I hope you enjoyed this post and possibly got some new additions to your TBR! Let me know your top 5 summery reads, I'm always looking for more books to read :) Also let's hope that this post makes it up in time for the email. If you're reading this and it's not Thursday/Friday then it didn't make it HA!
